equipoise

The discipline of dressage has evolved to favor the type of horse known as a warm blood. It is to be distinguished from the draft horse (cold blood) and the thoroughbred (hot blood).  Reference is often made to this type of horse being a sport horse.

I continue my fascination with these types of horses and in this sculpture I chose to express their athleticism by having a ballet dancer on a beam with a dressage horse in a perfect state of equilibrium, or equipoise.
